If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14)

Psalm 51 (Ps. 50)

Have Mercy on me, O God, according to your merciful love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin!

For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. Against you, you alone, have I sinned, and done what is evil in your sight, so that you are justified in your sentence and blameless in your judgment. Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.

Behold you desire truth in the inward being; therefore teach me wisdom in my secret heart. Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Make me hear joy and gladness; let the bones which you have broken rejoice.

Hide your face from my sins and blot out all of my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new and right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me.

Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit. Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will return to you. Deliver me from bloodguilt, O God, O God of my salvation, and my tongue will sin aloud of your deliverance.

O LORD, open my lips, and my mouth shall show forth your praise. For you take no delight in sacrifice; were I to give a burnt offering, you would not be pleased. The sacrifice acceptable to God is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.

Do good to Zion in your good pleasure; rebuild the walls of Jerusalem, then will you delight in right sacrifices, in burnt offerings and whole burnt offerings; then bulls will be offered on your altar.

Offering Prayer to the Holy Protection of the Mother of God:

O Heavenly Queen, our hope and temple of the LORD. Mother of our LORD, God, & Savior, Jesus Christ. Under the leadership of St. Joseph your most chaste and righteous spouse, You protected the LORD when He was a little child – sinless and perfect.  To you it was entrusted to safeguard Him from Herod’s demonic wrath and provide Him with all of His earthly necessities as your beloved son.

We therefore ask that you take our land and its people, the United States of America, under your holy protection.  Throughout generations, you have shown your favor to the inhabitants of the American Continents: at Guadalupe, you revealed yourself as the ‘Lady clothed with the Sun’ (Rev. 12:1) and shattered the stronghold of the idolatry of death.  Throughout the history of the United States, you have been exalted under your title as “the Immaculate Conception” and our Land has long been blessed with peace, liberty, opportunity, and abundance.

Despite these innumerable blessings, our nation has done evil in the sight of the LORD: we have forsaken the God of our fathers, spurned His designs for family life, and the unborn continue to be sacrificed on the altar of death. Like the children of Israel in the desert, our nation has long presumed upon and even idolized the blessings granted to it and has failed to render due worship to the God from whom all blessings flow. We humbly beg the LORD of Hosts forgiveness for these innumerable sins and ask for your merciful intercession on our behalf.  We have done evil in the eyes of your Divine Son and His judgment is without reproach.

We pray that through your intercession, repentance and healing will flow in our country and that we may bear the necessary fruits of ‘seeking first the Kingdom of God’

We fly to thy protection, O Holy Mother of God; do not despise our petitions in our necessities, but deliver us always from all dangers, O Immaculate and Ever-Blessed One!

Amen.

  • + Glory be to the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, now and for ever.  Amen.
