If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14)

God's Plan for the Renewal of Our Culture Starts with YOU

Take YOUR part in the renewal of a Culture of Life.

What is the Chronicles 7:14 Plan?

A grassroots movement of prayer and reparation that is consecrated to Mary's Holy Protection for the renewal of a culture of life in our nation. Inspired by 2 Chronicles 7:14, when God promises healing and renewal to those who seek Him in right worship, this movement exhorts us to a lifestyle rooted in the living God -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Why the Chronicles 7:14 Plan?

Beyond political or social efforts, lasting cultural conversion only comes from uniting ourselves with God through right worship of Him. The Chronicles 7:14 Plan proposes nothing more than the age-old practices of ancient Christianity: daily prayer, the sacramental life, fasting, and pilgrimage. We turn to Mary, under her title of Holy Protection, as our sure advocate and defense in these challenging times.

How to Take Part:

1) Daily Offering Prayers: Join your daily prayers for the repentance, reparation, and renewal of our nation with the Chronicles 7:14 Plan movement!

Pray the Daily Offering Prayers!

2) A Personal Commitment to Daily, Scripture-Based Prayer:

In Hebrews chapter four, we read that the "word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword". A life of fruitful, personal prayer must always commence with filling our minds (and hearts) with the Word of God, which not only helps to sustain us spiritually, but gives us the sure weapon in battle that we will all inevitably face.

There is an abundance of ways one can center their personal prayer around the Holy Scriptures -- some worth considering are:

  • a) Reading the daily Gospel and Scripture readings for the liturgical lectionary.
  • b) Praying the Daily Office (ie Liturgy of Hours)
  • c) Consistent meditation on the Mysteries of the Holy Rosary or the Jesus Prayer on a prayer rope (Chotki)
  • d) Following an established 'read the Bible in a year' plan.

***There are many opportunities for this, most notably Fr. Mike Schmitz's "The Bible in a Year" plan and podcast. Also the Coming Home Network offers a "Read the Bible and Catechism in a Year" Plan: Read the Bible and the Catechism in a Year - The Coming Home Network he TH

3) Living a Robust Liturgical-Sacramental Life:

A liturgical life, centered on the Eucharist (the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ), is the 'source and summit' of the Christian Life. Life in Christ is a life steeped in His liturgy!

Participants in the Chronicles 7:14 plan commit to:

  • 1) Make a non-negotiable commitment getting to Liturgy on the Lord's day and 'keeping it holy'.
  • 2) Confession once a month.
  • 3) Keeping the obligatory holy days of their particular Church (Latin, Byzantine, Maronite, etc.) as well as observance of heightened liturgical seasons.
  • 4) Challenging themselves to incorporate more liturgical life into their daily life (ie getting to daily masses, adoration-benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, Stations of the Cross, Processions, Vespers, Molebens, Akathists, the possibilities are endless!)

4) Regular Fasting: '...And He said to them, "this kind cannot be driven out by anything but prayer and fasting..." (Mark 9:29).

Practice of fasting was central even to the ministry of the Lord Jesus himself. Just as He inaugurated his three-year ministry for the redemption of mankind with forty days of fasting and prayer in the desert, we too must incorporate a regular practice of fasting if we prayerfully desire the conversion and renewal of our culture (not to mention ourselves...).

Participants in the Chronicles 7:14 Plan are called to:

  • 1) Observe the fasting and meat abstinence expectations of their particular Church (meatless Fridays, liturgical fast days, etc)
  • 2) Dedicate a day of fasting once a week.
  • 3) Discern what sort of fasting discipline to embrace on account of their health needs as well as station in life.
  • 4) Observe their fasts on the traditional penitential days: Wednesdays & Fridays.
  • 5) Offer their fast for the intention of reparation for sins against life and family & the renewal of the culture of life.

5) Embracing Pilgrimage: The ancient practice of pilgrimage goes back to the apostolic origins of Christianity. While the remnants of this venerable practice are still found in ancient centers and cultures of Christendom (Europe & parts of the Middle East), this is a practice that has yet to take full root in North America -- especially in the United States. It is time to change that.

Why embrace the practice of pilgrimage and HOW?:

  • -Pilgrimage reminds us of our temporary but consequential sojourn in the Christian life in which we must strive after the 'crown of righteousness' (2 Tim 4:8).
  • -Pilgrimage trains, purifies, and disciplines us to strive after our eternal home here on earth.
  • - Pilgrimage is a walking prayer of supplication to God that calls down His blessing to sanctify the locality & soil on which it occurs.
  • -Participants may go on pilgrimages to the 'traditional' holy sites (Holy Land, Rome, Mt. Athos, Fatima, the Camino, Knock, Medugorje, etc).
  • -The Chronicles 7:14 Plan encourages participants to seek out more local holy sites -- This may be:
  • -More obscure holy sites in the US.
  • -Identifying a 'Holy Site' in one's own community of a local or personal significance (a local monastery/convent, a roadside shrine to the BVM, your grandmother's baptismal parish... ).
  • -The Chronicles 7:14 Plan challenges all of its participants to make, at a minimum, one pilgrimage a year -- offering this act for the reparation for the sins against life and family in the nation.
  • Sanctify your locality!
